Custom App - Make Default View on Page the Thumbnail Image

I was wondering if there was a way to get a custom app to only show the thumbnail instead of the card when deploying it to a page. Then, once the user clicks on the thumbnail image, it will take them into the card (similar to what the Card Builder apps do).

 

Some of our current apps can get quite large and it would be nice if this feature was available.

 

I noticed that the mobile application does this, but it would be great if there was a way to make this work on the desktop.
