First and Last Name in a single Column, when there is not Last Name

I have two beast modes that take the `name` and break it into two seperate "colums" So I can have a first name column and last name column on my table card.

 

First Name

LEFT(`Name`, INSTR(`Name`, ' ') - 1)

 

Last Name

RIGHT(`Name`, (LENGTH(`Name`) - INSTR(`Name`, ' ')))

 

The issue that I am running into is sometime there is only a first name in my raw dataset in the `name` column. I need assistance in updating my First Name beast mode to leave the name as is, if there is only a single word (name) in the `name` column. Anyone know how to do this?

    How is your Name column structured? Is there always a space in the column, with or without the last name? 

     

    If there is no space for those single word names you can do something like this:

    CASE WHEN `Name` LIKE '% %' THEN LEFT(`Name`, INSTR(`Name`, ' ') - 1) ELSE `Name`
    END
