I'm trying to find a few technical journals or publications to help keep up to date with the development of the data management industry in general. I'm really hoping to find something technical with more information about methods and use cases than the ubiquitous opinions and less than subtle merchandising.

Any help at all is appreciated even if it seems a little off topic please let me know.

Not exactly sure what you are looking for (and if you will excuse even more 'subtle' branding/merchandising on our part), here is a Whitepaper posted recently as to how Domo has helped executives with their Data Management initiatives.
