DOMO "Cards --> DataSets" API

Currently, there is No capability to link Cards to DataSets (Card ID --> DataSet ID) using any of the DOMO APIs.

 

This hampers the user experience when trying to access KPIs/Metrics available on the Cards from an external app. We have built an integration to Domo to be used by our customers, but this is at a DataSet level only, due to the API limitation. If there are a lot of datasets, there is no way to drill-down from a Card level to identify DataSets that users need access to.

 

The information hierarchy as we understand is - Pages --> Collections --> Cards --> DataSets. Domo API provides a Pages API and looks like there is a possibility to identify the Collections and Cards, but it stops there. DataSets API exist as a standalone API without any info on what Cards are dependent on the Dataset (or) which Dataset provides data to the Card.

 

This is a much-needed API feature. Kindly expedite and keep us posted.

    Hi @Varun - Have you downloaded the Governance datasets, or only DomoStats? 

     

    The DomoStats tables are great for user management and a bit of content administation, but the Governance tables lend a lot more in terms of cradle to grave environment reporting.  You need to build dataflows to get the full benefit of them, but can do what you are looking for pretty easily.

    @DataMaven - Does this work via APIs? I mean are there APIs to access the Governance that would map the Cards & Datasets easily?

    I must be missing something here.  Are you looking for metadata on the content you have in Domo, or something else?  You can 100% report on what datasets are powering which cards on which pages, etc, using the governance dataset.  Am I misunderstanding what you are looking for?
