Cards for "Today" go blank at UTC time, not local time

I need the Dojo collective mind! Smiley Very Happy

I have a card that shows KPI for only "Today". At 5 PM Pacific time the card goes blank (as if it thinks the day is over). I am physically in the Pacific time zone and all of our date/time data going into Domo is in Pacific time. I have since learned that Domo assumes all data coming in is UTC and adjusts the data to the time zone in your company settings, so I switched our company setting to UTC time. So now Domo is not changing the data, but since we are now UTC time the cards still go blank at 5 PM Pacific. If we switch the company setting to Pacific, Domo will adjust our times, thinking they imported as UTC, and try to make them Pacific. There are too many cards (& card makers) to make changes at the card level.

How do we get the "Today" numbers to stay until midnight Pacific time (or for monthly views, to keep it from switching over to to the next month?). How do other companies deal with this challenge?

@jaeW_at_Onyx , thanks for your help. I tried, but that wasn't the fix. Domo support figured out that the Workbench that was bringing over the data did not have a time zone set. Setting the time zone in the Workbench lets Domo know what time non-UTC data is coming over in (in this instance, all our data was in Pacific time). This eliminated the need for data flows once the data was brought in. (We tried that too, but it was breaking). Here are links to how to set the timezone in workbench 5 & 4 if anyone ever needs them.

EDIT:: I WAS MISTAKEN

https://knowledge.domo.com/Administer/Specifying_Company_Settings/033Time_Zone_Issues_FAQ

"All data loaded into Domo is assumed to be in UTC and the company time zone setting will adjust the data from UTC to the selected time zone."

Then when you create a card, Domo automatically adjusts the data back to your timezone.

to 'undo the offset' use a date_add function to add the number of offset hours between UTC and PST in a beastmode.

alternatively, 'fix the data' in ETL OR re-upload the data with datetime adjusted to your company timezone settings.

hope that helps!

Hi Jae,

Thanks for your response. The data leaves our warehouse in Pacific time and goes into Domo unchanged by us. Are you saying to use an ETL to switch the times to UTC? Do you have an example of what that ETL would look like?
